You drag yourself out of bed each morning, clean your knashers, wash yourself down till you are red raw, and finally kick the cat out in the morning before taking the same route to work as you did 25 years ago when you first started that interesting job you always dreamed of when you were an office junior.
Perhaps like me, some mornings you change your routine, perhaps your drag yourself out of the wrong side of the bed to see if you really do get more annoying to people or deliberately keep the cat locked in the house to see what it can actually do to your favourite afghan rug whilst you are at work.
What I'm trying to say in a roundabout sort of way without waffling to much or harping on about how to make life just a little bit more interesting than pulling your teeth, is that you need to come up with some unique and unusual ideas when it comes to buying people presents.
Just imagine, it's Christmas Eve and the build up for Christmas Day is getting to boiling point. No one can sleep and we are now getting worried that Santa Claus will not come down the Chimney. Well perhaps back in 1956 that was the case when we were kids, but after 53 years of receiving the same old gifts as we receive every year the build up to Christmas Day now seems about as exciting as playing "snap" with your deaf granny.
What I would like instead of a pair of black plain socks is at least some effort to make it half way interesting. Perhaps this is the best gift idea of all…. a personalised gift, yes something a bit different which someone has actually gone to the trouble of making the effort for once this millennium. I'd like a personalised pint glass with my name on it so that nobody else dares to drink from if they run out of pint glasses on Christmas day and if they did they would wake up with a nasty hangover from being knocked unconscious on the floor, not by the after effects of too much beer but from the weight of the glass crashing down on their bonce.
Now as you now know I’m not easily pleased, so this year make the effort and buy someone a personalised gift.
